As soon as possible after booking your pet's appointment, visit the "Forms" page on this website to complete and submit both the New Patient Form and the New Client Form. Please be sure to carefully follow the instructions to ensure successful submission. Your thoughtful answers and timely completion will assist Dr. Nichols as he prepares for your appointment. He will spend significant time reviewing your forms, studying the medical records provided by your general practitioner, making detailed notations, creating summaries, and formulating differentials so he is thoroughly ready to help your pet. If we do not receive your forms a minimum of one week before your appointment, you may be required to reschedule to a later date.
What to Expect
You will never feel rushed at AADC as we allot an hour for every appointment. Quality of medicine, not quantity of patients, is our priority. Dr. Nichols will begin with an in-depth consultation, move to a physical examination, then collect samples for microscopic analysis if necessary. He will educate you about your pet's dermatological/allergy issue(s) and write a comprehensive medical report for you and your referring veterinarian. This report will contain your pet's history, exam findings, cytology results, diagnosis, step-by-step treatment instructions, and the plan moving forward. While Dr. Nichols composes this report, your veterinary technician will perform any needed cytology and dispense any prescribed medications and/or topical therapies. During this time, you may relax with your pet in the exam room, partake from our refreshment bar, enjoy our front porch rocking chairs, and/or take your pet for a stroll. Upon Dr. Nichols' completion of your medical report, your technician will discuss the report and treatment instructions with you and answer any questions you may have. Please allow ample time in your schedule for this thorough process.
Rescheduling or Cancelling
If you unfortunately need to reschedule or cancel, please contact us no later than the Friday morning prior to your appointment. As Dr. Nichols uses his weekends to prepare for the upcoming week's patients, he greatly appreciates your courtesy of notification of cancellation before he spends valuable time reviewing your pet's case. Your considerate notice also allows us to contact clients on our wait list who will be eager to move up to your appointment spot. A $75 fee will be charged if less than 24 hours notice is provided. Thank you for your respect of other pets' needs and Dr. Nichols' time.
